The Voice preview: 10 things to look out for in the second knockout round

Hot on the heels of tomorrow’s first round, The Voice brings us the second half of knockout weekend on Sunday night as Ricky Wilson and Tom Jones each choose their final three to complete the line-up for next week’s first live show. Here is the line-up and also ten things to watch out for.

It’s RIcky and Will’s turn to ponder who they will take through to the live shows (Image: BBC)

1. Ricky Wilson‘s team looks pretty lop-sided, with only two male singers (Stevie McCrorie and Emmanuel Nwamadi) and six females. Will either of the boys make it through?

2. One of Ricky’s singers reveals she was bullied as a child for being supposedly ugly and fat.

3. Another of Ricky’s performers has a nightmare, starting their song on the wrong note and admitting they struggled with the words.

4. Tom Jones‘s team features both the youngest and the oldest of the 32 acts in the knockout round: 52-year-old Sharon Murphy and 16-year-old Rosa Iamele.

5. One of Tom’s contestants does press-ups during their coaching session.

6. Tom is likened to a character from Star Wars. (Not Jar Jar Binks.)

7. After hearing one contestant sing, Rita Ora says she “just blew up like a blowfish”. In a good way.

8. As in the first knockout round, this episode features just two songs which topped the UK charts on their initial release: Heart Of Glass (as sung by Rosa Iamele) and Woman In Love (Sharon Murphy). The Beatles’ version of Twist And Shout (Letitia George) did also reach number one, but it was originally recorded by the Isley Brothers.

9. This episode features just three songs from the 21st century, with none originating from the Noughties.

10. No Wacky Metaphors from Will.i.am, but he does comment that there was a lot of heavy breathing. The mind boggles.
